Yes. You WILL be pulled in w/compelling subject lines! Just as music can’t be "smelled", the whole of our natural faculties is unfit to probe the spirit world. (1 Cor. 2:9-10) We're equally unfit Jesus "SALESmen/women".....And effort based evangelism is like scheduling....Spirit based evangelism is like breathing. Since the Church is already the bride of Christ (Rev. 21:9), maybe our collective role is more “midwife-ish".....b/c midwives can't force that li'l bundle o' joy to be born. (Not even w/a cookie! HAH!) C'mon, my fellow dudes....You're also part of the bride/"midwife"! Spiritual midwifery is about:
I know a midwife. She mainly waits....listens to baby & mom....gives encouragement.... does coaching & lots of spiritual warfare....maybe natural herbs. Mainly presence. Much like TRUE evangelism... ....We, as Christ's midwife, are in good company b/c the Holy Spirit is the only TRUE Evangelist. If the Lord breathed bio life into Adam (Gen. 2:7), He can certainly incarnate spiritual words of redemption through us, the sons of Adam....spiritual words destined to set off chain reactions in the 6 degrees of separation. God gets amperages of Glory when His redemptive agenda is SPOKEN AT FITTING TIMES DIRECTLY THROUGH the dust that was cursed in Gen. 3:17! And He gets Glory yet again when we don't try to help Him do His job. Pls bear w/my silly Dunkin' Donut analogy as I rally to trim "Friendship Evangelism" to its simplest essence: (This'll work although their brand barely passes for a "donut"....at least for these tastebuds. HAH!) They became "Dunkin'" in '19 b/c everyone knows their product. Hmmm....Perhaps it's likewise time to drop "evangelism" from "friendship evangelism" b/c the word "friendship" already implies advocacy for the best interests of one's friends. Like fire & light, they are inseparable. We, as result driven westerners, tend to compartmentalize. We either 1) make people into projects.....or 2) miss time appropriate Spirit driven opps for "words fitly spoken" (Proverbs 25:11 KJV).....This, while the rest of the world historically integrates the rhythms of community, where life's joys & disciplines are streamlined into "kairos" time instead of "chronos" time. Kairos allows for Providence & spontaneity....Kairos is actually more conducive to the biblical model. Grabbed this video off of the internet. It explains the diff: In 2016, a friend from the other Abrahamic religion self-invited to Church & came for 3.5 yrs. Many questions.....(once 'til 1 a.m.) He loved the social aspect but never converted, to my knowledge. And I don't NEED to know if he did...b/c he was never my project! It was sad to hear that, occasionally, believers had feigned friendship but soon abandoned him after he didn't convert. But I was ALSO cringeworthy like that until my delivery was fine-tuned by 1 Peter 3:15. (...give an answer to anyone who ASKS...) I then began allowing inquirers to take the lead, hence concealing the agenda....And since then, my relationships haven't come across as compartmentalized. B/c ALL OF LIFE is Kingdom! (Romans 12:1) Friends can freely initiate & drop subjects w/no obligation!...I'm a theological mutt but enough of a Calvinist that I've absorbed John 6:39. The best conversion stories are those in which there was no hard sell. Plus...such folks are less likely to be sold on converting back again...... .....The Holy Spirit is taking "R" through a profound midwifery apprenticeship. No time for details now, but.....it's GLORIOUS seeing the Spirit work full circle as he cycles out of the other Abrahamic religion. Oh, if only the Western Church had the fire of such newcomers!....R’s approach w/his community is diff than mine but I won't try to stop his big mouth. His culture is new to this Gospel thing & he's doing great. A good Kingdom investment that is raising up many midwives: Precept Ministries is an exceptional Bible study course that is being used by many inside the "a" country & its global diaspora. Approx. 20 have graduated & become leaders. 50 current students. It is helping move this nascent Church in a healthy direction. Small strategic beginnings like this will reap high returns.
